Picked up my Ultra Raptor from the FFL yesterday, brand new straight in from Kimber. I bought an extra Wilson mag, compact 7 round. Tried to strip it down, and the "paperclip" was too long to do so. Clipped it down to where it would fit, stripped it and cleaned it thoroughly. Tried to load it up, failure to load.

Kimber is indeed one of the few makers that produces a completely reliable 3" 1911 IMO (dumped my Colt Officers Model long ago). But Wilson does indeed now produce a 3" 1911'ish pistol, just not in .45. But my three 3" Ultra CDP's in 9mm and .45 are in no danger of being replaced any time soon; ultra reliable.I almost bought the Colt Defender, but went with the Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry instead. The Kimber was just more appealing to me. I wouldn't put the Defender and the Raptor in the same class. The Raptor is much more refined and seems to be put together better, IMO. The Defender and the Ultra Carry are neck and neck.
