I'm sorry to whatever screwed you up as a kid, Ari, but the world thanks you for being honest and for channeling that pain into something real, raw, and cathartic. It got a lot of attention based mostly on the cringe reaction to the movie. I think that was the point. The point is the shock value, to get people talking, pretty much. perhaps this film was an allegorical display. i believe ari much like kubrick had an unspoken message he was trying to portray. This mostly works as a series of blunt force ratcheting shocks—and telegraphs well in advance everything you'll either love or hate about this guy's self-satisfied construction and sadistic (perhaps irresponsible) humor—but I'm not really sure what any of it means or if it even matters.
